The Edo State Police Command (Benin City) has busted and arrested the suspected ritualist and a traditional ruler who has been forcefully circumcising, abducting underage girls for marriage, and sexually assaulting young girls. The Investigation uncovered in Edo state by the police how Chief Oziza Osaro used his boys to kidnap young girls and forcefully circumcise them in Edo forest. Since 2014, 187 young girls’ names have been found on their list. Privacy and confidentiality have been established.
At his home, these were found in possession of human organs at Odomola community in the Epe area of Edo State. The command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Friday, said the 67-year-old suspect was arrested on 18th September 2025 after operatives attached to the Odo-Noforija Division received credible information from members of the public about his suspicious movement. He added that a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was transporting the organs and young girls from Edo State to a nearby native doctor for the exchange of money, female mutilation, and marriage rituals.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Abitu Yaro, has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of state CID to invite any person who has been involved or circumcised by this group to come forward and testify as police carry out a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the discovered corpses as the Command will continue to ensure the safety of all law-abiding citizens and those residing in Edo state.
